Please use the above form to nominate a local individual to join us at the 6th annual Trans March hosted in Orillia.
A Grand Marshal is an individual who leads and is honored at an event. In our case, they will be invited to speak at the rally and lead the march behind our Two-Spirit and Trans and Gender Diverse Indigenous folks. We invite you to nominate individuals who you feel have done important work or provide support to our local community. Final nominations for Grand Marshals will be selected by the Trans Pride sub-committee; a group of local community members who run events with the support of Fierté Simcoe Pride. |
Trans MarchHeld in Orillia on Thursday, August 4th starting at Staring at Kiwanis Skate Park at 6:00 PM and travelling by foot to Couchiching Beach Park on the paved trail stretching across the waterfront.
We ask that Two-Spirit and Indigenous Trans and Gender Diverse folks lead the march! The Trans March is a Trans-led event that seeks to provide a place for trans people to rally, stand up and come together in solidarity. All trans and gender-diverse people, their friends, families, and allies are welcome to march. Our theme this year is "Protect Trans Youth, Protect Trans Elders". We are currently seeing laws and rhetoric targeting Transgender youth and their ability to live their lives as their affirmed gender. Many Trans youth don't have access to support, social transition, medical transition and sports in schools. This ostracizes and harms Trans youth. We have also seen over the past few years the lack of care for our elders, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
